Cookie Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
This page explains what cookies are, which ones akronscore.org uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It works together with our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let a site remember things between page loads and visits: your preferences, whether you have been here before, and similar housekeeping. Some are set by us (“first-party”), others by services we use (“third-party”).
The cookies we use
Essential cookies
These make the site work. They handle basic functions such as remembering display preferences and supporting site security. They contain no advertising data, and the site cannot function properly without them.
Analytics cookies
We use third-party analytics services to understand readership in aggregate: which articles get read, how visitors arrive, and where the site is slow. The picture these cookies build is statistical, not personal. We configure analytics for privacy where the option exists, including IP anonymization where supported.
Advertising cookies
Our advertising partners, which may include Google, set cookies to serve ads, cap how often you see the same one, and measure performance. Google’s advertising cookie may be used to show you ads based on your visits to this site and others. Advertising pays for everything you read here, but you can opt out of personalization and the site keeps working fine.
Embedded content
Articles sometimes embed videos, social posts, or interactive charts from platforms such as YouTube or X. Those platforms may set their own cookies when the embedded content loads, exactly as if you had visited them directly. Their cookies are governed by their policies, not ours.
How to control cookies
You have several levers, and they work independently:
- Browser settings. Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies, per site or entirely. Look under Privacy or Security in the settings of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
- Google personalization. Opt out of personalized Google ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Industry opt-outs. Opt out of many ad networks at once at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe.
- Do Not Track and consent banners. Where regional law requires consent, the site’s consent tool lets you accept or refuse non-essential cookies by category.
Blocking essential cookies may degrade parts of the site. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies will not stop you reading anything.
