About
AkronScore is an independent news publication built on a simple belief: most people do not have time to read everything, and they should not have to. The news that matters can be told clearly, quickly, and accurately. That is the entire job, and we take it seriously.
We publish reporting and explainers across business, technology, science, sports, and entertainment. Every story is sourced, every claim is checked before it goes live, and every mistake we make is corrected in the open. Why “AkronScore”?
The name carries two old ideas.
Akron is the Greek word for the highest point, the summit. From the highest point, you can see the whole field at once. That is the editorial ambition here: stand above the noise, watch everything that matters, and report back only what counts.
Score is the oldest form of news in human history. Before there were newspapers, there was the tally. The count. The facts of the game. When someone says they “know the score,” they mean they understand what is really going on.
Put the two together and you have our mission in a single word: a clear view from the top, and an honest count of what is happening below.
What we cover
We focus on five areas and aim to do each of them well:
- Business: markets, companies, the economy, and what financial news actually means for ordinary people
- Technology: product launches, platform changes, AI developments, and the policy fights around them
- Science: new research, space, health findings, and climate, reported with care and without hype
- Sports: results, records, transfers, and the business behind the games
- Entertainment: film, television, music, and streaming, minus the manufactured outrage
How we work
Our process is built around three commitments:
- Accuracy before speed. Being first is worth nothing if the story is wrong. We confirm before we publish, and when a story is developing, we tell you plainly what is confirmed and what is not.
- Sources you can check. We link to primary sources, official statements, filings, and original reporting in every story. If we cannot show you where a claim comes from, we do not publish it.
- Corrections in the open. Errors are fixed quickly and flagged with a dated note. We never silently edit a mistake away.
Independence and funding
AkronScore is independently owned and operated. We are not part of a media group, we have no political affiliation, and no outside investor directs our coverage. The site is funded through advertising, and the wall between advertising and editorial is absolute. Advertisers cannot buy coverage, preview stories, or veto anything we publish. One note for clarity: this site has no connection to SCORE, the American small-business mentoring nonprofit that used this domain in the past. AkronScore is a news publication, nothing else.

AkronScore was founded by Ethan Caldwell, who serves as its editor and is responsible for everything published here. You can read more about the editorial setup on our Team page.
